Welcoming Winter
Hello everyone,
We spent most of last week talking about the coming of winter, the solstice, and all of the many ways that we celebrate and find light and warmth in this darkest, coldest time of the year. We went to the forest on Monday with the hauling sled and the pack basket and collected many downed evergreen branches and brought them back to school.
On Tuesday we built the winter spiral and started practicing for the lighting next week.
We also enjoyed the first snow and painted on it, made cucumber and veggies wreath snacks, made sparkly evergreen spiral pictures and celebrated Mabel’s birthday and had a barn dance party! Let the celebrations begin!
We will have school and aftercare as usual on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday we will be learning about and celebrating Hanukkah at morning circle with Kelsey Moskowitz. On Tuesday we will be prepping for the lighting of the spiral that night and making tea and cookies to share with our families at the gathering.
